preserving our legacy

As we prepare for our centennial celebration, we need your help to preserve the rich history and spirit of our beloved school. We are collecting memories, stories, photographs, programs and memorabilia from your time at SAACA/SAAS.

Contribute Your Treasures

Do you have any SAA articles, pictures, graduation programs, or even old uniforms (ties included!) tucked away? Give us a call at 718-359-7887 or stop by the school at our 157th Street entrance. We'll gladly take these treasures (or copies) off your hands and proudly display them during our Centennial festivities.  If you prefer, we can return your items after the celebration.

Share Your Stories

What was it like going to school at SAACA/SAAS? Did you have a favorite teacher or a "sister" as your teacher, or perhaps Mrs. Heden left a lasting impression? We want to hear all about it!

Our alumni newsletter editor, Peter Carrozzo, is seeking 100 brief memories (a few sentences to a few paragraphs) for the next issue of the Avellinews. Help us capture the essence of SAAS/SAACA by sharing your experiences.

Prompts to Jog Your Memory

  • Who was your favorite teacher, and why? Share a special anecdote involving them.
  • Tell us about your principal or any influential priests, coaches, or leaders you encountered.
  • What color was your school uniform?
  • What sports did you play? Recount memorable games or moments, and send us copies of any pictures you have with names and dates.
  • Describe your involvement in extracurricular activities like school chorus, boys choir, altar serving, band, scouts, Andrean Players, the Junior High School Players.
  • Are you part of a multi-generational SAAS/SAACA family? Share those details, dates, and any related photos.

3 ways to share your stories:

  • Answer our Alumni Memories questionnaire online.
  • Send your responses in an email to Peter Carrozzo at [email protected]
  • Mail your written responses to SAA Alumni Memories, Attn: Peter Carrozzo, 35-50 158th St., Flushing, NY 11358.

We have a Memory Shelf in the school office, recently enriched with Mothers' Club memories, Christmas Fair pictures, Fashion Show memories, Bake Sale photos, and class pictures. Help us continue to build this treasure trove of SAA history!

Don't let your cherished memories fade away. Share them with us today and be a part of our Centennial celebration!
