On November 29, 2022, St. Andrew Avellino Catholic Academy joins communities and non-profits around the world by participating in #GivingTuesday.  

#GivingTuesday was created in 2012, and since then, it has grown into a movement that presents an opportunity for hundreds of millions of people to come together as a global community to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. 

St. Andrew Avellino Catholic Academy in Flushing, NY has been educating young citizens of America for almost one-hundred years, an achievement worth contemplating.  The Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs from Ohio set out on a mission to provide Catholic education in our neighborhood.  They endured World Wars, a Great Depression, and sea-changes in popular culture.  The school they created not only survived the challenges, it thrived and prospered.  

The success of St. Andrew Avellino Catholic Academy graduates is due to the high level of expectation for every child entering the school’s doors and to the school’s uplifting community.  Our students are more than passive recipients of another's time, talent, and treasure.  They are recognized as children of God who must share their own gifts of intellect, compassion, and integrity.  Their young minds are inspired to grow and form in devotion to family, community, and Faith.

Our uplifting community encourages children of all Catholic and non-Catholic, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds to lead fulfilling, charitable lives. Our nurturing environment is essential as children navigate the uncertain waters into which society has thrown us. 

Today, education may look different than when the school was first founded by the Dominican Sisters, but some things do not change: a parent's love, the thirst for knowledge, and the embrace of Jesus.  Standing on these cornerstones established by our founders, we look towards the bright horizon that lies ahead.
